Here we have the debut album from Queensland’s Brimstone, featuring Boris Billing on drums and vocals and Pete Black handling the string duties. What we end up with are ten tracks of Southern soaked adrenaline charged metal fury. The grooves are very thick for most of the album and the feel of the album is a mixture of 90s Black Label Society meets pseudo-Pantera vibe overladen with a very traditional 80s tradition. The final effect is very good, as these guys definitely know what they are doing and have written some really engaging tunes. Whether it’s the full on charger such as Reaper or a very low key 90s balladesque such as Level Ground which is an interesting blend of 80s ballad and 90s radio hit which really has a way of working. In fact the whole album has this interesting blend which along with the great songwriting and some really well done production work has come together to make everything just click. For any album this would be considered a great success but for a band making their debut album and first impression, they really did a great job. All I can do at this point is “Raise A Glass” to them for a job well done!
