I first hear about this band after checking out a fellow DJs playlist and immediately new this Australian band had something special going for it! I ate up their 2010 EP, Demonology 101 and couldn’t wait to check out their full length debut upon hearing that it was coming soon! The band was very gracious to give me a copy and I immediately checked it out! To say I thought it was really solid would be an understatement. In fact the entire album is extremely listenable from one end to the other, and there are a number of tracks on here that really stick with you long after the long player ends! That’s not to say the rest of the album is filler for that matter as there isn’t any weak tracks to be found here. The sound is very mid range traditional metal with hints of a power metal undertone, a bit of a hard rock feel and a tiny hint of folksiness, but for the most part you get a very denim and leather sound throughout the disc. Even the ballad, Where The Ashes Lay has a really cool sound and though it hints at a more hard rock approach, it is nonetheless very well done and still drips of metal thanks to a strong guitar riff that weaves it’s way through the song combined with some solid intense gang vocals. Nicely done. Speaking of vocals, Squid does a great job getting a bluesy feel in his vocal stylings which are otherwise very NWOBHM.
