This is the third album of prog power from these Belgian epic metalheads. They already have a track record for writing some very unique and technical songs, and there is more of the same here in spades. They fit nicely in the Dream Theater, Symphony X, Kamelot camp, etc though at times they seem to even try to push the limits and try to step out of the box. While this is a noble venture, it doesn’t always come out as a masterpiece, but you got to give them credit for the attempt. There is no secret that although I really enjoy some well done progressive metal, there are times it is a bit over the top for me and with a lot of tracks pushing the 8-10 minute mark there are times I just simply get lost here, but that is probably the DJ side of me sticking its head in where it doesn’t belong. Production is excellent and matches up with anything you will find in Europe and again I can’t give the musicians enough credit here for creating some really cool music. Tony Carlino’s voice is as solid as ever, though it does sometimes get lost in the music a bit and I wish it was a bit more up front as that is definitely my favorite part of the band. It’s good but not enough power to go with the prog, a bit more guitar driven kick in the pants could be used here. Besides those little niggles this is a still a fine release and a great album to check out if you are a fan of the aforementioned bands or their ilk!
