We are living in a veritable golden age of metal with more quality bands out there today than ever before. One particular place of quality musicians is Sweden. This is a blessing and a curse. It’s a blessing to the fans as they have lots of excellent music to choose from and a curse to the fan’s wallets and to the bands trying to compete for attention. Veonity are definitely in the thick of the competition with their debut album. What we have here is a very strong offering of epic, straight up power metal with the gang melodies, chugging riffs and in your face power epicness! For a debut album from a band with barely two years together, they show a marked level of maturity as an entity. You can tell they seemed to dwell quite seamlessly. The music itself is not the most original, as that is very difficult to do these days, they don’t try to push their boundaries here and are content to deliver power metal and more power metal. Not saying that is a negative here and if you are a fan of power, you will have your hands full of some exquisite music here. With tracks like Phoenix Arise, Chains Of Blood, Slaves In A Holy War and Unity, you can really see what you are going to get, heck the album cover art probably grabbed your attention straight out – but it really is the quality of the music that you need to check out!!
